Paris Photo Show, the largest international art exhibition, was held at the Grand Palais in Paris from November 7 to November 10, 2019.
Paris Photo is the largest international art fair dedicated to the photographic medium and is held each November at the historic Grand Palais in Paris. Since 1997, the Fair’s mission is to promote and nurture photographic creation and the galleries, publishers, and artists at its source.
Paris Photo brings together up to 200 exhibitors from across the world, offering collectors and enthusiasts the most diverse and qualitative presentation of photography-driven projects today. Leading galleries showcase historical and contemporary artworks from modern masters to young talents. Specialized publishers and art book dealers present unique and rare editions, as well as book launches and signature sessions with many of today’s most renowned artists.
This year the press was invited to a special preview on November 6.
The goal of the show was to present and promote photographic art from exhibitors worldwide. There were about 200 exhibitions including photographs, art book dealers some with rare editions both to sell and to please the attendees who just wanted to look at outstanding photography; We saw photographs from the masters of photography and young talent.
Partners for the event included J.P. Morgan, Huawei Pernod Ricard, SNCF, The New York Times and Aho and Soldan Photo and Film Foundation.
Paris Photo provided visitors opportunities to see curated exhibitions from well-known public and private institutions; There were conversation platforms such as Architecture and Image, Emerging Photography and What s Vintage?
Frances Jakubek from New York was presenting some photos from the company race Silverstein located in Manhatten, New York City. She was happy to meet me and told me that she is personally organizing exhibitions for “A Yellow Rose Project” to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote. She has invited women photographers to present their works and is looking for sponsors, grants, and venues. I suggested she find venues in Washington, DC and offered to help organize an exhibition in Paris.
Films shown with free admission included both French and international short films about photography.
The Eyes magazine organized talks by artists presenting their books and followed by a question and answer sessions.
Paris Photo gave the professional photographic dealers and the public opportunities to see some of the most historically famous collections in the world and to meet photographers, gallery owners, and collectors.
