Anthony James Hall is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta Canada. In 1984 he earned a Ph.D. in History from the University of Toronto. During his 36 years in academic classrooms, Prof. Hall has taught a wide array of courses in Native American Studies, Globalization Studies, and Liberal Education.
Dr. Hall is widely published in academic venues and in many popular media outlets including the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, the Calgary Herald, and the Ottawa Citizen in Canada and Veterans Today in the United States. His books include Earth into Property as well as The American Empire and the Fourth World, both published by McGill-Queen’s University Press.
Between 2015 and 2020, Prof. Hall was Editor-In-Chief of the American Herald Tribune. This controversial website was de-platformed from the Internet by the FBI and the Department of Justice. The publication first emerged from Prof. Hall’s very active collaboration with colleagues at the New Horizon conferences that took place in Tehran and Beirut.
As explained in Earth into Property, Prof. Hall’s primary academic field in Native American Studies extended to a focus on Indigenous peoples globally. This development drew Prof. Hall to explore the treatment of indigenous Palestinians, especially those groups in the way of the widening Jewish settlements claimed in the course of Israel’s founding and expansion.
Largely as a result of comparing the predicament of Palestinians to the treatment of Indigenous peoples in the Western Hemisphere since 1492, Dr. Hall faced the ire of the Israel Lobby in Canada.
In 2016, the Canadian branch of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith mounted one of its notorious campaigns aimed at destroying the livelihood, reputation, and academic career of Dr. Hall.
The campaign was initiated on the basis of a joint operation linking Facebook Inc. with B’nai Brith Canada. Some have referred to this operation as a digital false flag event. It involved the publication of hateful fabricated posts whose malicious purpose was to defame Dr. Hall.
The Israel Lobby used the hoax to initiate a high-octane smear campaign in the international media. The Lobby persuaded the administration of the University of Lethbridge to join the smear campaign resulting in the illegal suspension of Dr. Hall, then a senior full professor with tenure. On the basis of a ruling by an Alberta Court, Dr. Hall was reinstated to his professional duties in 2017.
In 2018 Dr. Hall retired in good standing from his teaching responsibilities. Based on his academic record the University of Lethbridge granted him the title of Professor Emeritus. Professor Hall continues to live in Lethbridge where he spends much of his time conducting research and writing for various publications.
In 2022 Prof. Hall was invited back to contribute from time to time to VT.
