Mr. President: Your Legacy is at Stake

Mr. President:

Los Angeles is our nation’s capital for homeless Veterans.

Every day thousands upon thousands of war-injured and impoverished U.S. Military Veterans are forced to live homeless and hungry outside the Los Angeles VA, at Skid Row, in back-alley squalor and throughout the dangerous streets of Los Angeles because their legally deeded property at the National Veterans Home has been illegally and immorally pillaged and plundered for non-Veteran use.

Nearly half of all homeless Veterans are from the Vietnam War era and they are aged, frail and in declining health.  

Meanwhile, UCLA has a state-of-the-art baseball diamond, the wealthy and private Brentwood School has a state-of-the-art athletic complex, and the City of Los Angeles has a manicured public dog park on Veterans sacred land, along with other non-Veteran occupants occupying more than one-third of Veterans sacred grounds.

The corrupted mismanagement and misuse of Veterans’ property at the Los Angeles VA is colossal in scale and criminal in execution.

Mr. President, this malfeasance did not begin on your watch but it is imperative that you end it on your watch, or your legacy will be one of shameful disgrace.

If you sign H.R. 5936 – “West Los Angeles Leasing Act” — you will be aiding and abetting in the biggest land-fraud scandal in American history and you will be perpetrating the most heinous crime against humanity ever committed on American soil – against war-injured and impoverished homeless U.S. Military Veterans.

The choice is yours!

You can do the wrong and dishonorable thing and sign the Feinstein/Lieu fraudulent bill that will make all the illegal non-Veteran real estate deals on federal VA property … “legal” … and thereby keep thousands upon thousands of disabled, destitute, and disadvantaged Military Veterans homeless and hungry, forcing them to struggle in deplorable and inhumane conditions.

Or, you can do the right and honorable thing and send this bogus bill back to the Senate and Congress and let them know how shameful and un-American it really is and demand that all illegal occupants that are now on this sacred and sovereign land be evicted, posthaste.

The choice is yours.

Do you want the blood of war-injured homeless Veterans on your hands, or do you want to give thousands upon thousands of disabled homeless Veterans a “hand up” and demand that emergency humanitarian housing be immediately built on this hallowed property that is already protected by an 1887 Act of Congress and the legal Deed of Trust of 1888?

Mr. President, for good or bad, your legacy is at stake.
