Throughout NYC, home care services are becoming more and more popular all around. Home care agencies in NYC allow for families to be more comfortable with the idea that their loved one is at home.

This is likely because there are many benefits when one receives these services, along with the added bonus of being at home and not having to be in a foreign Nursing or Rehab facility. Home Care essentially means that working professionals, known as home health aides or home attendants, are assigned to a client’s home and help them according to their needs and preferences listed.

Are Home Health Aides Certified?

Yes, Home Health Aides are certified. In fact, in New York City especially, there are many classes particularly catered to home health aides and train them accordingly as the demand for such services is high and people are willing to work for these positions and cater to the elderly. According to the New York State Department of health, they mandate that each Home Health Aide receives a minimum of 95 hours in order to be certified.

This training, however, must be down within a 60 day period in order for the training to be valid.

Additionally, the training is completely like so: usually, there are about 65 hours of physical classroom training, this includes a lecture for about 45 hours and then their own demonstration for about 20 hours.

They even have an additional 5 hours of covering how to properly care for children in their field. After the training and testing of their work, the home health aides get hired by home care agencies which also give mandatory classes throughout the year known as “inservice classes” these inservices include lectures and exams that home health aides must pass in order to continue working.

These classes serve as a way to refresh the memory of the home attendants and ensure that they are constantly noting the proper procedures in all health-related topics. Some of the topics within these Inservices include Fall Prevention, OSHA Patient confidentiality, medication assistance, Coronavirus training and more.

One of the Home Care Agencies in New York City that follow these guidelines includes All Heart Home Care Agency. All Heart Homecare goes through a thorough background check for each of their employees, this includes both medical and criminal in order for each client to feel safe in their own homes.

With the screening, each Home attendant has an inservice training 4 times a year. If one does not fulfill these training nor do they pass the tests with the necessary score, the home health aide is unqualified and can not continue going to their client unless the client requests them to stay.

With this, All Heart Home Care only has professionals within their field and this has been proven through their client testimonials and the awards through platforms such as Dime’s Best of Brooklyn and Crain’s Best places to work 2019 and is a BBB accredited Business. If you’re considering hiring a home health aide in the NYC area, consider All Heart Homecare Agency to help you!
