Why the Dead Sea Is Dead (Or Is It?)
By Anne Marie Helmenstine, Ph.D Thought.co
When you hear the name “Dead Sea,” you might not picture your ideal vacation spot, yet this body of water has been attracting tourists for thousands of years. The minerals in the water are believed to offer therapeutic benefits, plus the high salinity of the water means it’s super easy to float. Have you ever wondered why the Dead Sea is dead (or if it really is), how salty it is, and why so many people drown in it when you can’t even sink?

Every Christmas we have Israeli barkers, mostly students on break, selling Dead Sea cosmetics in our larger Malls. I only venture into the Malls at Christmas because I’m a man that only shops at grocery stores, hardware stores and liquor stores, except at Christmas. Recently they’ve been flying around these little helicopters and selling Sea Salt stuff from the Dead Sea. These kids are natural salesmen and fun to talk to. This year I might just buy one of those little helicopters to mess with my neighbors doggies that never stop barking. Here in Baltimore a Ladies Jewish group wraps presents for Christmas to raise monies for charity. Best looking gifts I ever gave out. We live in a big world and we all have our parts in it..Oh and a hint for all us Gentiles, if you’re sweet on a Jewish Girl, or Boy, do get them a Christmas gift, from Santa of course..
