Health Editor’s Note: Why do we have this type of situation in the United States? This is not an isolated incident. People who cannot afford their medical care feel forced to just end their lives because they cannot pay the exorbitant medical fees for doctor’s appointments, tests, etc. People are driven to choose whether they can buy their medications or eat. A serious operation or disease can bankrupt a family while trying to keep a family member alive. We have to be a better country than this. This is not a “firearms” issue. Elderly couple in apparent murder-suicide indicated they could not afford medical care

An elderly couple in Washington state was found dead in their home in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said, and police say they discovered notes about the couple’s struggle to afford necessary medical care.
A 77-year-old man living near Ferndale, Wash., called 911 Wednesday morning and told the dispatcher he was contemplating suicide, according to a Facebook post from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office wrote that the dispatcher tried to keep the man on the line, but he hung up, saying, “We will be in the front bedroom.”
Carol graduated from Riverside White Cross School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio and received her diploma as a registered nurse. She attended Bowling Green State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Literature. She attended the University of Toledo, College of Nursing, and received a Master’s of Nursing Science Degree as an Educator.
She has traveled extensively, is a photographer, and writes on medical issues. Carol has three children RJ, Katherine, and Stephen – one daughter-in-law; Katie – two granddaughters; Isabella Marianna and Zoe Olivia – and one grandson, Alexander Paul. She also shares her life with her husband Gordon Duff, many cats, and two rescues.
