  1. looking for someone here who actually paid attention in that stats class. it means 50 to 70 percent of those intubated die

    remember, this is 36 percent of an aggregate of really sick and not so sick familymembers and contacts

    • But this needs to be reflected against the pool of overall infection. This could be tens of millions in the US as they are asymptomatic and have not been tested. The fact that it is more destructive to those over 50 is not subject to debate.

  2. Misleading statistic…the mortality rate is calculated against the whole community. I would suspect that millions have been infected with little or no symptoms and have not been tested. When those figures are analysed the rate will drop.

  4. I would think the best hope lies in the possibility that there are high numbers of people who were, or are, infected, with only mild symptoms, some having resolved, that were neither tested nor counted, for bringing that number down.
