Facebook, the giant organization that crossed the boundaries of social networking, making itself a powerful state that brings about regime change in the world, especially in the Arab world. Everyone remembers well Facebook’s role in the “Arab Spring”, and how it contributed in overthrowing dictatorships, that refused its people democratic rule, in the region.
The dubious visit of Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the headquarters of Facebook and meeting with the tech giant’s founder and president, Mark Zuckerberg. This is something new in the Arab world, especially for the Gulf rulers. What is Bin Salman really planning?
Such a visit is certainly not innocent. There are more important institutions he rather should be visiting than Facebook such as Amnesty International, Human Rights watch, Press and Media advocacy, and other important foreign policy institutions that currently condemn Saudi Arabia for its crimes against its own people, and its crimes in the region.
It seems, however, Saudi Prince knew he should try bribe the most effective institution in changing regimes.
Bin Salman implicitly admitted of the futility of dialogue with international human rights organizations, it does not affect at all, and their role is limited to writing reports that will eventually find its place in Dustbin. While he seriously fears the impact of social media especially after the increasing opposition to the rule of Saud family that will form a public opinion not in favor of this family, that caused destruction and killing of Arabs and Muslims.
It is no doubt the Saudi bribe to Facebook was present in the meeting, as it is the Saud family habit, offering bribes to influential countries and institutions.
What the Saudi prince seeks from bribery?this is what I will try to raise in the next few lines.
– Shut down Saudi opposition facebook providing Saudi intelligence information about their owners, as well as open the way for the government to monitor and spy on Facebook. All options are open for the deal.
Saudi Arabia, for protecting its regime, will pay ten times more than Facebook earns from users.
The Saud family started to seriously fear the popular consensus, as it suffers from internal crises flaming indignant popular consensus against Saudi foreign policies such as: aggression against Yemen, and the blatant interference in Iraq and Syria, as well as relations with Israel that began to overwhelm the system’s behavior.
The popular consensus that found in Facebook and Twitter tools for the development of its demands, must by all means and ways, be broken according to the Saudi ruling family. By all means including those unethical used previously in buying alliances against Muslims, burned cities and countrysides, mountains and seas. Everything, including water is vulnerable to the Saudi threat of burning and destruction, if the Saud money is present!
