Veterans Day is quickly approaching. The National Veterans Memorial and Museum (NVMM), will open to the public on October 27 in Columbus, Ohio. Simultaneously serving as a new, iconic national monument to those who have served and also a dynamic, interactive museum, the NVMM was founded with a mission to honor, inspire and reflect upon the concept of service in military and civic life in our country throughout time.
Designed by Allied Works Architecture, the museum integrates landscape and architecture in its circular design, culminating in a green rooftop sanctuary and amphitheater. Inside, interactive installations convey shared and individual experience of veterans through video, photographs and ephemera. Set against the backdrop of today’s partisan politics, the institution creates a sacred space for commemoration, education, and exchange.
