No Measures Exist to Counter Russian, Chinese Hypersonic Weapons – US Watchdog

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – No countermeasures or effective defence exists against the new generation of hypersonic weapons being developed by both Russia and China, the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) said in a report.

“China and Russia are pursuing hypersonic weapons because their speed, altitude, and manoeuvrability may defeat most missile defence systems, and they may be used to improve long-range conventional and nuclear strike capabilities,” the report said on Thursday. “There are no existing countermeasures.”

The report also said that China and Russia are developing anti-satellite weapons to threaten US space operations. Beijing, the report claimed, is developing capabilities to conduct large-scale anti-satellite strikes using novel cyber and electronic means.READ MORE: STRATCOM: US Must Not Trail China, Russia in Aspects of Hypersonic Technology

The report identified 26 long-range emerging threats that the United States faces in the areas of adversary military advancements, dual-use technologies, weapons and demographic changes.

  1. The only way citizens can protect themselves from being included in a nuclear slug-fest, is by living in an anonymous shit hole that looks like the Grim Reaper has already came by. Interested parties have hundreds of options available.

  2. The GAO should have included a blistering condemnation of the wasteful spending by the Pentagon, if the report is accurate. There can only be a few ways, that we have fallen behind in military technology.
    Either we are wasting nearly the entire military budget, or someone has stolen all the money.
    Until that is figured out, we have to assume gross incompetence, at the very least. So if this is a ploy to get more money, then it should be exposed as laughable.
    If a remodeling contractor was managing the finance and work on your home in a similar fashion, they would be sued and jailed. We need to reduce the military budget by 80%. I’m not kidding. It’s not an arbitrary number,.
