Health Editor’s Note: Here is the full coverage of the Emergency Committee Meeting of WHO who met today to discuss the current outbreak of novel coronavirus 2019 in China with some cases seen in other countries. The advice was given to the People’s Republic of China, all countries, and the global community. The overview of the current situation is that there are now been 83 cases in 18 countries with 7 cases in those who had not traveled in China. While there have been no deaths outside of China, there is one case that is severe. The virus has now been spread between people who have contracted the virus in China and those who have not been in China (human-to-human transmission.)……Carol
The second meeting of the Emergency Committee convened by the WHO Director-General under the International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005) regarding the outbreak of novel coronavirus 2019 in the People’s Republic of China, with exportations to other countries, took place on Thursday, 30 January 2020, from 13:30 to 18:35 Geneva time (CEST). The Committee’s role is to give advice to the Director-General, who makes the final decision on the determination of a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). The Committee also provides public health advice or suggests formal Temporary Recommendations as appropriate.

Carol graduated from Riverside White Cross School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio and received her diploma as a registered nurse. She attended Bowling Green State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Literature. She attended the University of Toledo, College of Nursing, and received a Master’s of Nursing Science Degree as an Educator.
She has traveled extensively, is a photographer, and writes on medical issues. Carol has three children RJ, Katherine, and Stephen – one daughter-in-law; Katie – two granddaughters; Isabella Marianna and Zoe Olivia – and one grandson, Alexander Paul. She also shares her life with her husband Gordon Duff, many cats, and two rescues.
