Reminds me a lot of the consequences when a link in the food chain is eliminated………….London and its sparrow population. The cheeky sparrows ( London Sparra’ )and other small birds such as the tit family, the robins, the thrush and blackbirds…………..every garden in the whole greater London area was alive with those birds. They thrived on the myriad of insect life that used to be so plentiful throughout the city in the 70’s and 80’s……………and then within 20 years as the whole city changed its demographics and became more and more sterile, the feathered species either died out or withdrew to more fertile surroundings. I don’t know what the Brits have done, but the sparrows have gone completely, and if you are traveling around the city, you’ll be lucky to see the odd mangy pigeon………..the rest of the bird population have simply vanished. No more bird song in Nightingale Square……………how sad.

This will eventually go global and completely disrupt the natural biological evolutionary equilibrium, males will be all that survive; there goes the fish and frog food, all the way up the food chain.
ravenise, Frogs and fish will have to start eating the myriad of other bugs that that live on, in, around the water. Bats on the other hand, well they might have some issues with this. I would not like to see any food chain altered but there are millions of people per year who suffer and many die from the diseases which mosquitoes carry and spread.
Genetic alteration of mosquitoes for purposes of controlling diseases they spread has been going on for 20 years and has been used before this. There are two ways to population replacement where the mosquito population is unable to transmit pathogens. Then the plan is for these mosquitoes to produce young which also cannot transmit pathogens. The first is “population replacement” in which a mosquito population biologically able to transmit pathogens is “replaced” by one that is unable to transmit pathogens. The second is called population suppression and this reduces the populations so there are fewer mosquitoes to pass along a disease. Gene editing has only become possible due to gene-editing technique called CRISPR. But this is new technology and does not have an international regulatory frame and also there can be mosquitoes that evolve and can stop the gene from spreading in making offspring. Bacterium can also be placed into mosquitoes which makes them unable to produce pathogens.
This can’t go wrong.

Only if gates had complete control. Because of those honorary degrees bestowed upon him, everyone has been able to share in his brilliance, especially the 431.000 Indian children that got paralysis from his vaccinations. They have now invented flying vaccinations. Priceless!
Just one more reason to stay the hell out of Florida.
