Sen. Sasse Slams Plans To Censure Him Over Trump Criticism

[ Editor’s Note: Sasse takes on his State Party Republican committee head on, basically daring them to censure him. In his five minute video response he pounded them for being loyal to a Trump personality cult.
But Sasse’s big hammer was accusing them of knowing Trump was lying all along about the election being stolen, and that they went along with it, and then have stood with him on the attack on the Capitol being “political expression”.
…“Politics isn’t about the weird worship of one dude,” Sasse said. “The party can purge Trump skeptics. But I’d like to convince you that not only is that civic cancer for the nation, it’s just terrible for our party.”
“Political addicts don’t represent most Nebraska conservatives,” Sasse said.
“If that president were a Democrat, we both know how you’d respond,” Sasse said. “But, because he had Republican behind his name, you’re defending him.”
…Sasse said the Capitol riot “happened because the president lied to you” and because Trump “riled a mob that attacked the Capitol — many chanting ‘hang Pence.’”
The worst statistic for the Republican Party that surprisingly only lasted a day in the news was the poll showing 45% of Republicans okay with the attack on the Capitol.
