  2. Maine Yankee Nuclear Power Plant operated from 1972 until 1996, then was decommissioned and dismantled. Some of the waste is still stored on site. (source: Wikipedia). There is no other reactor in Maine that I am aware of. Gives me some reason to be skeptical of this story.
