Do you have a pool table present at your home and want to move it? If you are considering it a DIY job and looking for the ideas to do it then here you will get the right idea. A pool table is such a huge furniture item with a heavyweight that t is recommended to hire professional pool table movers for the job. Even when you remove all the removable parts of it as much as it is possible still it would be very difficult to carry and move the different parts of it.

Having a pool table at home is fun and you might have spent some of the best moments on this. They tend to be longer from seven to nine feet and the weight of this is around 700 pounds or even more. So, now you know the complexity of transporting such a heavy item. Luckily now with this guide, you can do this with ease. Check out the process:

Collect all the moving supplies: First, you should accumulate all the supplies that will be required to disassemble, lift and transport these. Some of the supplies you require are measuring tape, drilling machine, cutting tool, screwdriver, dolly, cardboard boxes, socket wrench, plastic tape, bubble wrap, and so on. The tools might change according to the preference and the pool type. Once you have all the basic tools then you are ready to disassemble it into pieces.

Tear down as much as you can: Start with dissembling the furniture items and tear these down into parts. If you will try to move the entire table then it might be the biggest mistake you are going to commit. You can’t take the entire table from doorways where space is less leads to damage. Some of the parts that you can disassemble with ease are the legs, slate, felt, and rails.

If there is any moving part attached to it then before moving, you should also remove this. Packing will become easier when you divide the size as well as the weight of the table.

Wrap and label each part: After you disassemble all the parts well then it time to think about how you will pack. To do this, securely wrap each part to prevent damage when you move it. Cushioning is also important so that there is no scratch on your expensive item. Also find a suitable box for it. Once the packing of all the items is done then it is time to add the labels onto the packed boxes which indicates that what is packed inside the box so it does not get missed in all the household stuff.

Transport: Transporting the other pieces of it is easier than moving the slate. The slate is the heaviest and huge part of it and 5 to 6 persons are required and you can’t perform the job on your own at any cost. Ask your friends for additional hands to support you in moving the parts of it. Though if the slate is in 2 to 3 pieces then 2 to 3 people are enough to handle the job and can safely and securely transport it.

A special Tip: You should not prop it against any wall or something else because it can break or damage the wall or anything else on which you are propping it.

You can use dollies at the four legs of it if you don’t want to take it apart and want to move it only. You will require 4 people along with 4 dollies to create the balance. This helps in rolling it but ensure that there is enough space to roll it else dissembling will be required.

Reassemble: Now it is time to reassemble all the parts of the table and enjoy your time playing on it by placing at the right place in your new dream home.

How long does it take to move a pool table?

There is no strict timing that tells the exact time taken in moving a pool as it depends on certain factors such as the size of it, experience in assembling and dissembling the pool, and the distance you have to cover to move it. Usually, the professionals who can easily perform it in 2 to 3 hours and the time increases when you can considering it a DIY job. Of course, common people don’t have such experience so you should be ready to spend a long time moving a pool table.

Bottom line!!!

Always remember that you can’t complete the process alone yourself either you will require the help of your buddies or hire the professionals to do the job and just relax. Hiring professionals is the best way because they have the right experience to do the process and also possess the tools that are required to move such big furniture items. Considering it is a DIY job might be a mistake so avoid doing it by yourself.
