Sputnik: Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed expressed his thanks to Israeli President Isaac Herzog for his country’s support for the UAE after the Ansar Allah attack.

This came during a meeting between them, today, Sunday, at Qasr Al Watan in the Emirati capital, where Herzog is making the first visit by an Israeli president to the Gulf state with which his country signed a peace agreement in mid-September 2020.

During the meeting, which lasted for more than two hours, Herzog condemned the attack carried out by ” Ansar Allah ” on Abu Dhabi on the 17th of this month, which killed 3 and wounded 6.



The Israeli president said, according to a statement by his office published by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper : “We fully support your security demands and condemn any kind of attack on your sovereignty by terrorist organizations. We are here together to find ways and means to achieve complete security for those who seek peace in our region. Thank you very much.” for you”.

For his part, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi said: “First of all, I thank you and your country for your position on the recent terrorist attacks on civilian facilities in the UAE.”

Bin Zayed continued: “This position expresses our common view regarding threats to regional stability and peace, especially those posed by militias and terrorist organizations, as well as our common understanding of the importance of taking a tough stance against them.”

He added, “Your visit, Mr. President, comes after the recent visit of (Israeli) Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to the United Arab Emirates, which proves that our relations are advancing in full force, and that there is a strong and common desire to strengthen them for the benefit of our countries and citizens.”

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi continued, “The Abrahamic Agreements constituted an important historical change that embodies the peace approach that the UAE believes in. It paved the way for strengthening our partnership, especially in the areas of technology, innovation, health, energy, and more.”

For his part, Herzog tweeted, “I extend my sincere thanks to the Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm welcome and the generous hospitality in his palace. The Middle East begins a new era thanks to the courageous decisions of His Highness and other leaders to normalize relations with the State of Israel.” We talked about the future of the new and vital partnership between the two countries.”

 

The Israeli president arrived in the UAE earlier today, accompanied by his wife Michal, on a first-of-its-kind visit to the Gulf state.

Herzog was received in Abu Dhabi by the UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed.

  2. I would have loved to been a fly on the wall there. Rather amusing in a way…representatives of two terrorist nations condemning their victim of terrorism. Now, economic and military targets are to be classified as civilian targets…but only when it’s their facilities. Yemeni’s are all military targets…especially weddings and funerals. Say, where have we heard of attacking those before? Almost sounds like it’s a common practice, among terrorists anyway. The real reason for this visit is likely threats. UAE is crying they need protection, real protection. Israel is letting them know they really would like to keep Socotra and the high price of leaving their little group. Kinda like a speak easy owner telling Capone he doesn’t want to do business with him anymore. Now they know the meaning of being between a rock and a hard place. So, is Israel going to guarantee their safety or are they going to ‘put the arm’ on them? Yep, I’d say someone has a tit in a wringer for sure. As Joe Kenda would say…my, my, my. The next several days should give us a clue, if UAE does not remove their proxies.
