Donald Trump needs to dust the Israeli shackles off his clothes

Dear Donald Trump: Are you an American president or an Israeli prime minister?

…by Jonas E. Alexis

After the Paris attack or false flag last December, Donald Trump declared that “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States [must take place] until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on..”

“Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses,” he said, “our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life.”

All right. Let’s suppose we ban Muslims until we figure out, in the words of Donald Trump himself, “what the hell is going on.” Let’s suppose they stay in Palestine. But the Israelis are building hundreds upon hundreds of settlements every single year on Palestinian lands! Where would those Palestinians live in a few years?

The UN has recently asked Israel to “stop all settlement activity.”[1] In his last breath as president, Obama has finally agreed with the UN. Netanyahu, of course, has accused Obama of “shameful ambush.”

At 3:28 am, Netanyahu went on twitter to tell the entire world that they need to veto the UN resolution.[2] Trump sided with Netanyahu. He went on twitter to declare, “As to the U.N., things will be different after Jan. 20th.”

We have a situation here, Sheriff. The Muslims can’t come to the United States; they will no longer be able to live in the Middle East because the Neocons are destroying one country after another and Israel continues to steal lands. Where does Trump want those Palestinians to live? In Mars? Jupiter? Move them all to countries like Iran or Egypt?

You see, Trump cannot say that he is putting “America First” and then continues to defend whatever Israel does. It just doesn’t add up at all. Unless he comes to terms with these fundamental issues, “America First” will just be a fantasy. I would hasten to say that Trump’s presidency will be determined by how he responds to the Israel/Palestine issue. If he intends to discuss these issues in a rational manner in the future, then we should not leave him empty-handed.

In that sense, let us propose a simple way to the issue. Every nation, including Israel, must do its best to abide by the moral and political order. Israel cannot continue to use a standard for itself and then turns around and uses a completely different standard for other countries in the Middle East. That is obviously a recipe for disaster.

Israel has hundreds of nuclear warheads in its basement and does not even allow international inspections,[3] but the same country goes around like a mad dog telling other countries what they can and cannot have. One needn’t be an intellectual or deep thinker to realize that this is generally dumb.

Some people have criticized me in the past because I have provided a constructive critique of Trump. But what these people have completely ignored is that I have said almost the same thing about Hillary, Sanders, and others who were running for president. I have relentlessly critiqued the Obama administration as well because I am not part of this “Liberals” vs. “Conservatives” category.

The Powers That Be would love people to get stuck into the “Right” vs. “Left” matrix because those people won’t be able to have a clear thought in their heads. Who gave us Iraq? The so-called liberals? Who pursued Bush’s policy in the Middle East? The so-called conservatives?

These questions cannot be answered logically and consistently from those political categories. But if your allegiance is to the moral and political order or to practical reason, then the so-called “Right” and “Left” are not the best ways to take the enemy by the horn.

What we are saying is that any party has to conform its tenets to the political order in the Middle East and elsewhere. Failing to do so can only bring pain and misery in the world.

So, if Donald J. Trump wants to be serious, he has to be fair to the Israelis and the Palestinians. He cannot be fair to one country and completely ignore the obvious cry of the other country. This is very simple and does not require abstract thinking. Starting from January, we will hold Donald Trump accountable for what he now knows. He has no excuse. Under the slogan of “self-defense,” the Israelis have massacred, tortured, maimed, wounded, and slaughtered the Palestinians for years. It is high time that Washington gets serious.
