[ Editor’s Note: This continues to boggle my mind, and that someone with the ability to become a marine major could be so stupid to not only do this, but make sure the surveillance cameras got some nice clean shots of him.
It’s a strong indication that political zealotry can befuddle the minds of normally intelligent people to throw away not only their career, but possibly end up in the slammer. The term, a Marine one, “too stupid to live” comes to mind.
We have not seen a follow up story, when there should have been one. Where were the Marine military police during all of this? By this time they should have interviewed everyone in his command to see how deeply this silliness might have penetrated, yet we don’t see a peek.
Gosh, that kind of sends a signal that there is more bad news that someone wants to block getting out. I just checked news again and there is nothing new posted on the story since the first day, a complete lockdown is in progress, which would be the case if it was turned over to the military.

An active-duty Marine officer stationed in Quantico, Virginia, was arrested Thursday and charged with crimes related to the U.S. Capitol breach on Jan. 6, the District of Columbia U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Christopher Warnagiris, 40, of Woodbridge, Virginia, was charged “with federal offenses that include assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers; obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder; and obstruction of justice, among other charges,” according to a Thursday press release.
In the first 120 days after Jan. 6, approximately 440 individuals have been arrested on charges related to the Capitol breach ― most supporters of then-President Donald Trump ― which disrupted a joint session of Congress that was in the process of certifying electoral votes to the 2020 presidential election for President Joe Biden.
Warnagiris was the first active-duty service member to be charged in connection to events that day, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Thursday.
Warnagiris allegedly was the first one through the East Rotunda doors on Jan. 6., according to court documents, “after pushing through a line of police officers.”
Video footage, captured shortly after 2:25 p.m. on Jan. 6, allegedly shows the Marine, once inside the Capitol, putting himself in a doorway corner and using his body to keep the door open and pull other people inside. A U.S. Capitol Police officer tried to close the doors, but the man in the video continued to push it open, pushing the officer in the process.
The Marine Corps confirmed that Warnagiris is an active-duty Marine field artillery officer. He put on the rank of major in 2013.

Mind-bogglingly stupid, sure. But how much stupider is it to accept the legitimacy of the current chain of command, and the political system around it? There has been no legitimate US chain of command since at least 9/11, and even the most pointless and outrageous rebellion is less stupid than obedience.
