Why in the world did Dr. al-Arian and the American Muslim community elect George W. Bush?! As al-Arian explains in this interview, Bush (unlike Gore) promised to end the practice of using secret evidence to justify the judicial kidnappings and disappearances of Muslim activists. (The activists targeted were almost always those working for justice in Palestine, suggesting that the American judicial system, even then, had been captured by the Zionists.)

Sami al-Arian is one of only three Muslims listed in American Dissidents: An Encyclopedia of Troublemakers, Subversives, and Prisoners of Conscience which profiles 152 people in American public life from the late 1800s till now. He is the 10th youngest person on the list (the youngest is Bradley Manning). The only two other Muslims are Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali; and the only other Arab-American is Ralph Nader.
