Severe budget cuts led to the closure of five Israeli representatives, as well as diplomats quitting and difficulty supplying human resources for important posts in Israeli foreign ministry.
According to a Yedioth Ahronoth report, Israeli ambassador’s conference was held in the first week of February 2016 in a very cold and disturbing atmosphere. About this conference, in the closing ceremony, the Israeli foreign ministry staff committee chair Henan Goder said Israeli foreign ministry is collapsing and the Israeli state service is in a critical condition.
He said: Every day the government promises that the problems will be resolved while a growing wave of leaving state department has overtaken ambassadors so that many employees have moved to the national security staff.
In this conference Godar presented significant statistics showing that currently Israel has 106 diplomatic representations in the world while Greece has 142, Netherlands 141, Switzerland 124, Turkey 223, Egypt 166 and Iran 142.According to this comparison and after five representations were closed, Israel and Palestine have the same number of representations now.
They say the Israeli prime minister meant to retaliate from Liebermann when he ordered to close down the Israeli embassy in Belarus, and for not highlighting this issue, he ordered the closure of four other embassies.
Ambassadors believe that the prime minister, who is also the foreign minister, has led the state department to the collapse with his actions, in a time when Israel is in international isolation and is losing its international legitimacy.
