Donald Trump is a “paradigm of the age” whose “buffoonery and clownishness” work best only in show business not government, says American analyst and VT Editor Dr. Kevin Barrett.

Barrett made the remarks in an interview with Press TV over Trump’s declining popularity which has made him the least popular US president after a full year in office.

A new ABC News/ Washington Post poll published Sunday showed that only just 36 percent of Americans approved of Trump’s job performance, while 58 percent disapproved.

The US public is evenly divided on whether or not Trump is mentally stable, with 48 percent saying his is, and 47 percent saying he’s not.

Barrett said the fact that only about half of Americans had doubt about Trump’s mental stability “raises the question of the mental stability of the other half who don’t question it.”

Citing the incendiary book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, Barrett said even Trump and his team did not expect him to win.

“He was planning to launch a big media project which he probably would have been much better at because his clownishness and buffoonery and endless narcissistic unpredictability works pretty well in show business,” he said.

PressTV-Half of Americans doubt Trump’s mental health: Poll

A new poll shows that almost half of the people in the US think President Donald Trump is not mentally stable.

What led to his election, however, was the fact that the US society is a “quintessential Society of the Spectacle.” The problem, according to Barrett, is that people are more interested in what Trump has to offer as a “paradigm of the age.”

“People are more interested these days in staring and gaping at a spectacle that really is less and less easy to tell apart from reality than in actually trying to find out the truth of what is going on,” he explained.

“So in that sense Trump is a paradigm of the age and is providing a very ultimately amusing and terrifying spectacle as the supposed leader of the supposed free world,” Barrett further argued.

  1. Our country is too big to govern and perhaps always was from the outset. Powerful special interests have hi jacked every facet from Big Pharma in medicine and the FDA, to the Military Industrial Complex in the Military, to Israel controlling most of the media, to lawyers controlling how only district attorneys can bring an indictment and convene grand juries, to the draconian Supreme Court Rules where challenges to new laws may only happen AFTER a law has been enforced for decades rather than before it is enforced at all, to the flippant attitude toward money where borrowing and printing endless fake dollars have replaced the old tried and true backing of money by a Gold or Silver or other standard, to the total removal of the ordinary citizen from daily decision making at every level of our government. Powerful special interests run the show. Lawyers have taken over all three branches of government rendering the separation of powers void. Intended or not, these and more are the facts on the ground. How can they be changed within the framework available? The answer is they can’t be practically changed in any meaningful way in any person’s lifetime. We are stuck in a whirlpool which has drawn all of into it for certain drowning. Ben Franklin predicted this outcome. Unfortunately he was right. And to add insult to injury Israel has hi jacked the whole monstrosity and even did 9/11 to show us who was and is boss!

  2. Generally agree with KB, but the criminal prosecutions should extend well beyond 9/11.

Still like the idea of Ken O’Keefe as POTUS, since the people need to hear the State of Union speech he would give.

  3. I don’t know about VT, but personally, my #1 preference would be a military coup aimed at purging and prosecuting the 9/11 criminals, including even those passively complicit in the cover-up (meaning much if not most of the Establishment, as well as 9/11-genocide propagandists like Trump, whose lies about “dancing Muslims” should put him in prison for life). Failing that, we are probably better off with a dysfunctional Trump presidency that hinders the US and its Israeli owners from successfully pursuing their evil designs, than a possibly less dysfunctional Pence or Ryan presidency.
