Southern Europe, with a number of governments that were already under great financial strain, are looking at getting crunched with a virus influx onto already strained national health systems that are ill prepared to deal with what may already be coming at them, as Italy has shown.
The idea of pussy footing around in not closing the door to all illegal immigration is insanity under the current virus spreading conditions. As Gordon has a already stated, the economic destruction will be much worse when it is over, than the uptick in deaths.
Almost never seen in the media on this is the number of normal flu deaths every year, again killing primarily the elderly more due to multiple ailments and weakened immunity systems. The American Hospital Association leaked slides gave us the first professional projections.
A leaked document published in media revealed US hospitals were preparing for a major coronavirus outbreak with unprecedented sale. The document estimates a death toll of 480,000 from 96 million coronavirus infections in the US.
The US has already fumbled the ball badly, starting with a pathetic record of even getting ready to have enough testing kits to have any way of staying on top of its spread here. We are a month behind getting geared up for it due to the Trump regime’s concern with hurting the markets, which were a foregone conclusion could not be saved from the expected crash.
Merkle has said that 80% of those infected with get through it with almost no symptoms. So the obvious focus is to slow it down to give time for a vaccine to be prepared and tested. This is little solace to those in the 60 to 79 age range which are currently 50% of the deaths, and 56% if you add in the 80 to 89 group.
Each country’s political structures will be responsible for the the path they choose. And for Merkel and the EU, I don’t see their adding a flood of refugees in, which will just be replaced by a new batch waiting to want in, in an endless stream … Jim W. Dean ]
