Daily Beast: Florida has hit a new record for coronavirus hospitalizations with an additional 518 hospital admissions recorded Tuesday. Gov. Ron DeSantis lauded the state’s progress on the same day, stating his belief that the state would soon begin trending downward in new coronavirus cases.

“I think the trend is much better today than it was two weeks ago,” DeSantis said. “We’re going to be able to get through it. We’re not there yet.” Go to 1:40 for DeSantis getting a dressing down:

Experts disagree with DeSantis’ positive assessment. “As long as the cases continue at this current rate, you know things will continue to move in the wrong direction and we will most likely see hospitalizations and deaths increase,” Kaiser Family Foundation state health reform director Jennifer Tolbert said.



The state had a six-day streak of reporting more than 10,000 new coronavirus cases daily but that streak was broken Tuesday with 9,440 new cases.

  1. The report from NYS today is 2 deaths today, down from 800 in one day at the peak.
    The primary mechanism for this was masks, and keeping the bars and other large indoor gatherings down. It was also observable during this period, that people were conscientious about not touching things you are not buying, and just give people space at the store.
    The one stupid thing I keep saying is why are air conditioners still recirculating when they should exhaust to the exterior and bring in fresh air, if they are in a public space. Another very basic point is, the amount of virus taken into the lungs or skin matters. That is why the masks make a difference on both ends.

  2. Why are pets allowed to roam free? No masks? Can’t carry virus on their body? Don’t exhale virus like a human? Virus passes animals and makes beeline to humans. Cough and say bullshit. God forbid if govt quacks told someone to quarantine the pets. Oh my Lord, not my pet. Would overflow money bucket if beside a dog with a sign that said owner can’t afford food for me. Try to run over a homeless vet while yelling, get a job. That is our present and future.

  3. Is it permitted to question the accuracy/validity of these tests and the statistical interpolations of possibly-flawed results?
    According to F. W. Engdahl in a recent post on N#0 (where your work is well-represented) 22 labs in FL reported 100% positive while the morbidity rate has plunged. Hmmm.
    I live in Floriduhh (Chabad-controlled) for now, at least.
    While on a ‘junket’ to IzRealHell, DuhhSantis introduced a ‘mock’ piece of legislation which would make it “..highly illegal..” to associate Hollywood with Jews. Upon His Excellency’s return to Tallahassee, he actually introduced that same bill.
    Nothing but a ‘tool’ heading for the US Senate and the ‘money-trough’.
    I once had a friend who could ‘spit nails’ but he was an experienced upholsterer.
