[ Editor’s Note: Despite the vast US military intelligence network and FBI at Trump’s finger tips, his aversion to interacting with people smarter than he drives him to Twitter for his morning big Intel scoops.
The capitols of UN governments get to see a US president stick his head up his butt one more time and come out smiling once again. You know that look, the “here I am robbing you losers and suckers blind and you are cheering me, treating my tweets like sermons on the mount”.
But Trump is always home free with his Banana Republican Trumpers, as they could not care less if his tweets come from his ‘internal regions’. Twitter seems to be the best that his lazy followers can do for information sources. Part of their attraction to Trump is his daily bullying…think public lashings, hangings and beheadings. It gets their blood pumping.
Now comes a new SoS Raffensperger hoax story about his bother working for a Chinese tech firm, which of course is immediate proof for Trump in his involvement in election hacking, but with one simple problem. The man, Ron Raffensperger, is no relation to Brad Raffensperger. Don’t expect a retraction from Trump. He don’t do dat.
America is faced with a modern political paradox now, in that making totally false, unverified claims in important matters of state have no immediate sanctions available to punish the perpetrators, like a Congressman or Senator losing his voting privileges for a month for attempting to disenfranchise millions of voters.
But that brings up another red line issue. The House and Senate are empowered to make, interpret and enforce their own rules. Why should we allow them to do that when that allows them to bend, twist and cheat?
Why should not a citizens court be empowered to adjudicate congressional membership transgressions?
In fact, in a perfect world I would not have Congress investigating anything. It has its hands full without endless hearings. There should be special investigators and prosecutors doing all that time consuming work.
But the Pols don’t want that, as they would lose all the media face time they get at hearings, where they try to get zinger lines in to make headline news. We have a very antiquated system, born in a much less complicated world, and which does not serve us well today. Could the founding Fathers ever have foreseen the Trump situation we have? … Jim W. Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger does not have a brother named Ron who works for a Chinese tech firm, regardless of what the president of the United States says.
In a late-night tweet, President Donald Trump attacked Gov. Brian Kemp and Raffensperger for failing to overturn election results in his favor and claimed that “Brad R’s brother works for China.” Except, that’s not true.
On Dec. 23, GPB News reported on the “Battleground” blog and on social media that Brad and Ron were not related, that Raffensperger had two sisters and no brother in debunking the claims made by the Gateway Pundit and other right-wing media outlets seeking to allege nefarious actions that somehow altered election results.
Here’s what we know now: The secretary of state’s office said at the time that Raffensperger did not have a brother named Ron and had two sisters. Raffensperger also has another sister and a brother — also not named Ron — who are private civilians, and the official who fielded our query about the nonsensical claims last week said the secretary of state only discussed having two sisters in conversations with staff about his private life — especially given the death threats and harassment he and his family members have faced in recent weeks and months.
True, factual, contextual information is important now more than ever, when the President of the United States is leading a movement of misinformation. So GPB News is updating the blog and has published this fact check to ensure accurate information is reported and available.
GPB News has confirmed via public documents and records that Raffensperger does have four siblings, including a brother, but none of them are named Ron, none work for Chinese technology companies nor have any ties to voting machine vendors used by Georgia to conduct its elections or to count five million votes three separate times to confirm that Joe Biden won the state’s electoral votes
