[ Editor’s Note: You just can’t make this shit up. This trial is going to enshrine the debased caliber of political ‘talent’ we elect to Congress. Here is proof that Trump was all in, putting maximum pressure on to get the election flipped, where if he went down, he could not care less about anyone else.

It still amazes me that a trait so obvious in Trump seems to be so invisible to the Trumptards. McCarthy is now among the worst, thanks to the Congresswoman who McCarthy briefed in on the con, and she went public.

It is one thing for the public to be conned by a political sociopath (and no, I am not being unkind with that remark as it is just an observation, because at VT we run across truck loads of such people all the time), but it is another level to not even care when the truth comes out.

It reminds me of General Honore’s memorable term he used in his Katrina operation, when telling his troops to put their guns down, as they were not there looking for people to shoot, but to help them. He chastised them with “Don’t get stuck on stupid!”

While it seems assured that the Republicans are going to let Trump slide on a conviction, for the trade off that they will get the Trumptards’ support in the elections of 2022 and 2024, they will forever be stained for breaking their oath of office to defend the Constitution, preferring their own political careers instead.

What we do, or don’t do, will also define our behavior on this sad event. The term I liked most was that the Trumptard Republicans are a cancer on our body politic that must be removed.

If the GOP votes to let Trump go, then it will be time, as the pirates of old use to say, “to raise the black flag”. While ‘they’ may claim their right to self preservation as cover for the actions they are taking, they will be once again showing that they took a fake oath and are a disgrace to their office… Jim W.   1. Don’t forget, according to Pastor John Hagee, “There are 50 million Bible-reading Christians who stand with Israel.” I’m sure that 100% of them voted for Trump. He was their ticket to the Rapture and as the chairman of the New Mexico Republican Party said, “[Trump] will be our president FOREVER and no one can take that away from us.” Christian Zionists already believe the Earth was created exactly 6025 years ago because they’ve counted up the “begats” in the Scofield Reference Bible, so it isn’t much of a stretch for them to think that Trump actually “won” the election like he said he did. Those folks who stormed the Capitol were doing God’s work, not insurrectionists like the evil Democrats claim they are.

  3. Jim, what Trump banked on to solidify his base was to tap into the hatred of the liberals embedded for decades into the minds of average Joe. The Israeli Likud, the evangelical Christians and the Tea Party. These are cult like groups with extreme ideologies and agendas, hence their rigidity which never allows to change their minds just like the cult of the republican senators showed today.

    Only people living under rocks could have been honestly fooled by his persona and campaign promises. It was that filth Adelson who financed him. He was the financier of Likud crimes. How could anyone miss that. Then it was the payoff to that porn star that should have buried him with the religious base during his campaign. But the Christian talk show hosts and right wing pundits brushed after it bringing the presidency to a new low. And they just kept going lower and lower.

    The guy can’t put a coherent sentence together but that challenged lingo is attractive to his not so sophisticated base.

  4. 99% of all media outlets they were against Trump from day one but the man has communication skill and charisma on that.

  5. The con at the time, which was a good one, is that he had his own money and hence would be more independent. But that was big lie number one as he did not even ‘self fund’ his campaign like he claimed he would. And that was followed by the ‘drain the swamp’ con, a spin off from his TV show fame and his famous “You’re fired” con. And even when he brought the swamp into government on a scale we have never seen, meaning common gangsters, not the usual white collar kind, he really got no backlash of having deceived his sheep. And even now, they can’t see what a fraud he was from day one, or don’t want to.
