VT: Racist retired cop, John Motto, spent a long and illustrious career as a homicide detective. Now the DA’s office has to review every case he worked on, every time he went to court.
Every case he was involved in is now suspect and very rightly so. Nothing he said or did during his career can be trusted nor can those who allowed him to stay “on the job” or worked with him.

Racism is a culture issue with police forces. Sadly, it is also common among police who too often either drawn from the lowest rungs of white society or are radicalized though exposure to continual racist banter “around the stationhouse.”
One, however, can’t deny that the majority of physical and armed confrontations with suspects involves people of color. It isn’t an excuse but it is a reason.
This has allowed white criminal elements to partner with police through Oath Keepers and Proud Boys.
The issue is fixing police. The problem is that those who oversee police are political types, often reprehensible and corrupt.
Additionally, police that rise through the ranks are the worst scum on earth. Lots of experience there.

About VT - Policies & Disclosures - Comment Policy
I usually talk about dentists and teachers, and how they respond when asked why they chose their profession. Nearly all dentists respond money and teachers summers off. Police have a different response, but whatever words they use, there is a different quiet motivation behind them. The best ones have a deep seated desire to serve the community. But, too many of them simply seek domination and view the general public as a nuisance to be ruled over. A self styled security blanket, can turn to a causation of burn out and the angst and anger is taken out on whomever they view as lesser. The pervasive racism, fortifies itself and becomes expert at remaining hidden. Luckily, I do think the trend is improving with more women on the forces.
Generally speaking, if I’m in a city, and have a choice, I’ll approach a black or female officer every time if I can, and I’m white.
