NEARLY TWO YEARS before George Floyd was pinned under the knee of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, Anton Black was pinned to the ground by police outside his home in Greensboro, Maryland.

On September 15, 2018, body camera footage captured the 19-year-old struggling under the weight of multiple officers, laboring to breathe and crying out for his mother.

Dr. David Fowler, who was the chief medical examiner of Maryland for neBlack’s mother watched her son die in front of her. He used his last breaths to shout “I love you.”arly two decades, classified Black’s death as an accident. Now, he is an expert witness for Chauvin’s defense and is expected to offer testimony as to how Floyd died last year.

The forensic pathologist, who resigned from Maryland’s medical examiner office in 2019, is one of several parties being sued by the Black family for wrongful death and civil rights violations. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in December, alleges that Fowler “covered up and obscured police responsibility for Anton Black’s death.”

  1. That child looks like a real terror. I worked in adolescent psych in locked wards for years. Would of wrapped him up in a baskethold and tired him out. Cops can be real stupid at times. Worst case scenario, sometimes teens fight so hard they and you dislocated their shoulder, while they fight. Even in a baskethold. Verbal intervention is always best and even continuos with physical intervention. All this only when a real danger to self and others.

  2. Coroners are a stop gap measure for police corruption and must be carefully chosen.
Denzels latest movie, ‘The Little Things” , is a classic display of how it works.

Imagine the number of cases, just in the last 20 years. The blue line expands to its own needs, and draws many from other departments. Everybody knows.

    • You’re right, everyone does know. That only makes this crap even more heinous. Those cases that sit for a year, then video surfaces, which the cops had all along says it all. THEN they investigate. I keep saying it, hold prosecutors and judges responsible. Prosecutors for kissing blue ass, hiding evidence and judges for unwarranted warrants. Higher standards for those who hold the peoples lives and future in their hands…and no ‘get out of jail free’ cards. Judgements against them should be harsher, as they betray the public trust from a position of power.
