Former Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Yuriy Baluyevsky on Tuesday, March 1, commented on the professional state of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, noting that the Ukrainian army had been at war with the population of its own country for eight years.

“Well, I would not say that the Ukrainian army is completely incompetent. Any army that has been practically conducting combat operations for eight years has combat experience.

Of course, I want to say that this is the experience of fighting with our own population, with the population of our own, as they say, country because I believe that the population of Ukraine lives on the territory of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, ”he said in an interview with Izvestia.

Baluyevsky specified that in 2014 the residents of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions exercised their right to self-determination, not wanting to live according to the “incomprehensible” laws that they were trying to impose.

At the same time, the ex-chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces expressed the opinion that Ukraine today is a weapon in the hands of the collective West, which “saw its goal to contain and stop Russia.”

The West has always tried to consolidate the result of the Cold War, in which the United States called itself the winner and considered that the rest of the world’s states should live by their rules, Yuri Baluyevsky said.

“We, as our president very correctly defined, endured for a very long time, but, like any patience, the end comes,” he concluded. The situation in the Donbass, where the Ukrainian military has been conducting an operation against civilians since 2014, seriously escalated on February 17, 2022. The DPR and LPR reported heavy shelling by Ukrainian security forces, including heavy weapons.
