[ Editor’s Note: No, the Mad Max festival in the desert was not shot in Yemen, but I used the photo as a representation of the surrealistic battle scenes that we saw take place there, with the Houthis and even Saudi mercenary militias dressed in whatever they could find.
The video of the captured and destroyed Saudi equipment, plus the abandoned positions with their ammo dumps were big prizes for the Houthis, and in some way resembles a Mad Max movie.
This is narrated in Arabic, so watch for the visuals of the Houthis combing Saudi positions, looking for what they can still use in future fighting. I have not seen the Houthis having any hauling equipment for taking damaged captured armor back to repair facilities.
The ones with engines that will turn over are being driven off, and the rest might remain to scar the desert. A semi-truck hauling one or two damaged vehicles would be a juicy target for patrolling Saudi planes.
Morale is high with the Houthis, as their tactics are working, and they have no fear of the Saudi army or its hired fighters. But it is in no one’s interest for the war to go on. It’s a tar baby for Saudi Arabia. Mohammed bin Salman made peace-feeler statements recently, but that could just be a feint, as he is definitely a rascal.
Last night, I watched three quarters of his Frontline documentary, which was something. I recommend watching it. The word megalomaniac comes to mind. The torturing of the women in prison for “driving activism” did it for me… Jim W. Dean ]
