VT: Adrenochrome collectors? Child trafficking? Investigation to start on Amy ‘The Coney’s’ mysterious pseudo-Catholic ‘prayer group’ whose history of sexual abuse is now being exposed.
Guardian UK: Some ex-members who spoke to the Guardian said they were deeply concerned that too little was understood of People of Praise.
“The basic premise of everything at the People of Praise was that the devil controlled everything outside of the community, and you were ‘walking out from under the umbrella of protection’ if you ever left,” said one former member who called herself Esther, who had to join the group as a child but then left the organization.
“I was OK with it being in a tiny little corner of Indiana, because a lot of weird stuff happens in tiny little corners in this country. But it’s just unfathomable to me – I can’t even explain just how unfathomable it is – that you would have a supreme court justice who is a card-carrying member of this community.”
Today we’re reporting that People of Praise has recently hired a big law firm to investigate claims of sexual abuse within the group. It happens to be the same firm that helped Brett Kavanaugh in his confirmation https://t.co/G09qcikUUh

Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the supreme court has prompted former members of her secretive faith group, the People of Praise, to come forward and share stories about emotional trauma and – in at least one case – sexual abuse they claim to have suffered at the hands of members of the Christian group.

It is no surprise and actually expected. In a repressive community where sex is taught to be bad and filthy, the intention has the reverse effect. To the average person either in one of these groups or to the casual outside observer, not much is noticed. My personal effort to examine these groups over 40 years, quickly taught me, if I wanted to get the real skinny, you have to get people of authority to meet and drink. Generally under the auspice of counseling or deeper theological discussion. Being the lost, is always good, particularly if you can at least exhibit some acumen to promote curiosity or challenge. Invariably, for a variety of reasons and a variety of vectors of conversation, they will initiate sexual dialogue, and after about that 3rd glass, all you have to do is listen. And I’m speaking of priests, bishops, seminarians, ministers, whatever the title, it is 90 % guaranteed. So predictable, it is an easily recognizable, “yup here it comes” moment. The repression is a caldron that comes to a boil sooner or later. I’m speaking of the women also. If I actually listed who said what in a traveling timeline from group and location, , no one would believe me. In this venture, truth is absolutely WAY stranger than fiction. The world at large will never know the half of it.
With all due respect, I’d prefer to see a criminal investigation and referral, indictments, or prosecutions, and testimony cited, rather than former members complaining to the Guardian, as grounds for sex cult, or sexual abuse allegations.
The church investigates itself, and they lawyer up at any whiff of external probes other than their own. This is why they get away with it now and for the last thousand years.
They own the law, mob rule # 1.
And then a Federalist Judge is going to pull his willie out of some child’s bum and declare a judgment in favor of the victim? Yea, keep dreaming.
One more step on the way to turning the USA into some kind of Christian Zionist theocracy. Heaven, save us from the wrath of the so-called Christians…
