Iran says using advanced centrifuges to produce 60% uranium by next week
…from PressTV, Tehran
[ Editor’s Note: We now see that Israel has shot its wad, thinking it would show how slick it is with the attack on Natanz in the middle of the JCPOA negotiations, but it has now blown up in its face.
Any long time follower of the JCPOA conflict knows that Iran would certainly have a good supply of backup new centrifuges to deal with such attacks, and has them stored in mutliple secure locations around the country.
Iran is not going to say this, for obvious reasons, but every time their nuclear program gets attacked it will respond by publicly ramping up its ability to have a nuclear deterrent, and with a long string of offensive attacks by Israel to show that it was necessary. Iran has never assassinated Israeli nuclear scientists.
Israel thought it was being cool with its attack on an Iranian ship recently, and where an Israeli one, obviously just a coincidence, was bombed shortly after, with no casualties, a great embarrassment for Israel and evidence of recklessness on their part. I can just image the message that Israel got from to ‘cut the crap’ during the Vienna talks.
The resumption of the JCPOA talks are now put off to Thursday and Iran has doubled down on its position. Either the sanctions are lifted, or it will proceed with its nuclear enrichment activities per the JCPOA agreement on ‘violations, which is a totally logical path for them, one which the IAEA fully understands.
Meanwhile, back at the UN ranch, there are no moves to sanction Israel for destabilizing the region, making the former look weak once again in front of the whole world. At least we don’t have to listen to the blathering of Trump’s UN ambassador, Nikki Haley.
The Israelis still have not figured out how the big China deal had changed the dynamics on the balance of power in the Persian Gulf. Iran is not isolated. The squeeze that the West is putting on the East is just triggering a defensive response across the board, with Iran now China’s western bastion.
Does Israel want a billion Chinese enemies? Good luck with that if they do. China is going to have its navy in Iran’s new ports. That will bring all the defensive weaponry one would expert, anti-ship missiles, advanced air defences, and possibly it new fighters to join the Russian ones Iran will buy when it can do so …Jim W. Iran says it has already started work to use IR-4 and IR-6 centrifuges in Natanz for enriching uranium to the level of 60 percent and that it expects the product to be ready next week.
Iran’s permanent representative to Vienna-based international organizations Kazem Gharibabadi made the announcement in a tweet late Tuesday, expressing hope that the move will help the country increase the manufacturing of radiopharmaceutical products that are also higher in quality.
Meanwhile, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said in a tweet on Wednesday that sanctions, the assassination of nuclear scientists, and the destruction at Natanz centrifuge assembly center “all demonstrate the frustration of the enemies,” and that the willpower of Iranian scientists has “turned all such unwise acts into desperation.”
The organization also emphasized that Natanz nuclear site will continue to work at full blast in spite of the recent terrorist attack.
Iran announced on Tuesday evening that it had informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of a plan to start enriching uranium up to 60 percent purity, following a suspected Israeli act of sabotage on Iran’s Natanz nuclear site.
Under the plan, Iran will install 1,000 new centrifuges at the facility in addition to the 5,060 centrifuges already there, some of which may have been damaged, Deputy Foreign Minister said in Vienna, where he is slated to attend another round of negotiations over revitalizing the JCPOA.
Araqchi said “the Natanz incident has strengthened our determination for progress in both the nuclear field and negotiations. Contrary to what some may think, our hands are now much fuller in negotiations.”
“Sanctions must be lifted completely, and then verified. Later, Iran will return to its commitments [under the JCPOA]. This is our position and the rest depends on how much the other parties want to go along with this logical stance,” Araqchi said.
“We are not here to waste our time. Tangible progress must be made so we can return to Tehran with a conclusion at the end of this round of talks,” the top negotiator addd.
A senior Russian diplomat has reacted to Iran’s recent decision to significantly boost uranium enrichment, saying Tehran is “transparent” regarding the measures it has taken in retaliation for Washington’s withdrawal from the 2015 multilateral nuclear deal and the subsequent imposition of sanctions.
“As always Iran is very transparent in its deviations from JCPOA. Needless to say that we aren’t happy with this but we are used to think big,” Russia’s Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov tweeted on Wednesday, referring to the Iran nuclear agreement by the acronym of its official name, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
“We need to focus not on current difficulties but on restoration of JCPOA. If we succeed, this and other problems will be settled soon,” he added.

Sorry Ptaki, but the only way the talks will be long and difficult is if the US makes them that way. For Iranians, the way forward is clear…and it will become clear to the US as well when Iran sticks to it’s guns. On another note..are there some ‘missing’ Mossad agents in Erbil? And those Yemeni missile/drones that KSA shot down? They must have fell onto their targets anyway..or were those videos of fireworks? HAHAHAHA.
