Addictions are the ego’s way of dysfunctionally attempting to resolve fear attachments, heal a wounded part of our psychology and/or bring temporary relief to situations that cause us emotional and/or physical pain.  Whatever the ego offers, be very sure, that it is deceitful, temporary and will only inevitably lead to greater suffering.   Ultimately, addictions represent dysfunctional attractions to corollary frequencies that are emitted from similarly false, non-harmonious substances and/or experiences. As you read ahead please keep in mind the basic laws of physics that: “like energies attract”.

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.” – Nikola Tesla

Overview of the Body’s Frequency, Energy or Chakra System

The 1st Chakra energy center (know as the Muladhara or Root Chakra) is located at the base of your spine near the tailbone. The Root Chakra is symbolized by lotus flower of four pedals and is associated with the color red. The 1st Chakra deals with base survival energies of the self; fight or 6flight instincts, security, mental stability, sensuality, and sexuality.

Working upwardly, the next energy center, the 2nd Chakra (known as Swadhisthana), is located just slightly above the Root Chakra, in the area of the sacrum near a man’s testes or a woman’s ovaries. This Chakra is symbolized by the crescent moon of the lotus flower and is associated with the color orange. Its’ energies deal with relationships, emotional stability, and pleasure, violence, and addictions.

The 3rd Chakra, known as Manipura, is located in the stomach area and is symbolized by the downward pointing triangle of the lotus’s ten petals. Its’ associated color is yellow. This Chakra’s energies deal with translations and transformation of emotions fear, stress and anxiety into personal powers of spiritual growth and mental expansiveness.

Working upwardly, the next energy center, the 4th Chakra (known as the Anahata) is symbolized by a twelve-petal green circular flower. It is located in the chest and heart area of the body and is associated with the color green or pink. The 4th Chakra deals with energies of unconditional love, emotional balance, compassion, tenderness, how we handle rejection and our sense of inner well-being.

The 5th Chakra, located in our throat, is known as Vishuddha. It is symbolized by a silver crescent with sixteen pale blue or turquoise petals. This energy center deals with and governs our communication, our ability to articulate our thoughts and speak authentically, our spiritual expression.

The 6th Chakra, known as Ajna (our third-eye), is linked to the pineal gland and is located in the center of the forehead, at the point just above and between your two eyes. It is associated with the colors indigo, violet or deep blue and is symbolized by a two-petal lotus. The 6th Chakra is associated with our intuition and the abilities to envision, bring balance to our higher and lower self and our ability to be spiritually discerning.

The 7th and final Chakra called Sahasrara or Crown Chakra is located at the top of our head and is associated with the pure consciousness of the color white. The Crown Chakra is symbolized by the thousand petal lotus and deals with the energies of releasing karma (negative energies created by non-loving thoughts and actions), meditation and connection with God Consciousness, unity, the integration love as the singular truth and the realization of Dharma (lovingly living in alignment with our life purpose).

All addictions, be they to alcohol, drugs, sex, violence, gambling, food or materialism/shopping begin with a karmic soul wound that the ego, our collective expression of attached states of fear,  attempts to expresses into the present life form experience.  The disruptive nature of such wounds can eventually manifest themselves into negatively dramatic episodes that lead to self-destructive behavior and/or injuries, disease and/or even death.   They can also if dealt with and resolved in a conscious and loving manner, offer an expedient pathway towards enlightened awareness.

The ego always seeks to pervert Divine truth into rationalized thoughts and actions that steer awareness/consciousness away from or backward from our God-self Divinity so that the mind becomes more unconsciousness and/or eventually evil.  It’s interesting to note that if you take the word evil and spell it the opposite way you get the word “live.”  Therefore, evil represents living backward from Divinity and/or Loving Truth.

Ego generated cravings, dysfunctional and/or uncontrollable addictions and/or behavior that pull at our psyche, be it for alcohol, drugs, sex, food, shopping/materialism, etc. ultimately create wounds or holes in various chakra centers of the body in which dark energies seek to fill or occupy such voids in order to manipulate awareness and/or take it over completely.  These sort of energy takeovers are especially prevalent when people use alcohol and/or drugs.  Such people who consume either can appear to be possessed by evil entities that play out the most resentful, caustic, vile, malicious verb-age and/or actions against people who are most close to them and/or attempt to assist them towards recovery.   To those who are a witness to such behavior or worst, the victim of it, it is as though the user is literally possessed by a demon, and most likely, this is the reality of it.

Only deep meditative compilation (mindfulness, listening to divinely inspired music, sound healing, extended exposure to nature) coupled with a authentic requests for forgiveness from those whom the addict has  harmed in the wake of their insane turmoil and an innocently declared request of forgiveness from the higher-self can begin any process of healing and ultimately bring closure to such self-inflicted and sabotaging psychic wounds.

Until such full forgiveness is completed the personality will continue to operate in an unpredictable bi-polar-like-state that constantly renders rational, conscious and loving thoughts and behavior impotent.  It may likely take the addict to hit rock bottom and/or experience the dark-night-of-the-soul to be offered a turning point from which they can have a spiritual breakthrough or rebirth.

“He who is afraid of vice is subject to vice; he who is addicted to vice is its captive; he who acquaints himself with vice is the pupil of vice; he who learns his lesson from vice, who passes through it and rises above it, is master and conqueror.” Hazrat Inayat Khan, founder of the Sufi Order in the West (July 5, 1882 – Feb. 5, 1927)

In fact, ancient Sufi teachings suggest that those who are in an addictive state of hitting rock bottom are mere millimeters away from experiencing enlightenment.  This is because the dysfunctional rock bottom of addiction represents the state of the “I don’t know.”  In other words, consciousness reaches a point where self-awareness realizes that the ego mind has completely exhausted and totally failed in offering or delivering any form of an outside/external means by which to resolve the fearful inner suffering that initially triggered the addiction.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7, the Bible

In the state of the “I don’t know” the Higher-self or God-self brings the ego to its knees in prayerful submission and surrender.  Here it becomes INWARDLY KNOWN that the only life/soul saving answers will come from sincerely asking within.  This final and authentically liberating option of inward offered contemplation brings with it clarity and loving answers that point the way to spiritual wholeness.  In this humbled state of surrender healing and enlightenment is both possible and achievable.

“And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.” – Matthew 23:12

Addictive cycles work like the needle of a record player that is stuck in the ever deeper, growing, and repeating groove of discordance within our soul record.  This repeating cycle of suffering will continue until emotional stress/distress and/or physical pain in the mind and/or body reaches such a great breaking point that this facilitates an innocent openness to the inner guidance of self-care and inner healing.  In basic metaphysics, such breakdowns are known to cause breakthroughs into higher awareness.

As a starting point, there are two basic aspects of awareness, consciousness, or thought that we will be dealing with.  One is called the ego mind, our false and/or fearful self.  The second, our empowered and/or true self, we will call our God-self.

The Ego-mind represents the wounded part of our consciousness that remains fearfully attached to painful thoughts of the past and/or then projects these same thoughts into the future.  The Ego-mind keeps consciousness, to the degree that attention is given to it, in a constant state of attached suffering.  The Ego-mind can only operate from the past or future time states and always looks outside the self, to the material plane of perceived reality, for power and answers.  To it, the kingdom of heaven is external and found on the material plane of reality (people, substances and/or situations).  To accomplish this philosophical rational the ego uses “PERCEPTION” to formulate observations and then establish corollary thoughts which bias how decisions are made, misdirected, and then falsely acted on.  The ego is therefore defined by falseness, attachment, and suffering.

The God-self (Krishna, Christ, Buddha, Mohammad, and/or Enlightened-self or however you’re most comfortable in referring to such wisdom) forever communicates to us about our life-mission that we are here on planet earth to complete in order to establish greater love and peace on this plane of reality.  Our God-self ALWAYS remains in the PRESENT MOMENT and provides a constant stream of inspirational insights about how to become and express our most aware, loving and enlightened self.  The God-self always looks inwardly to itself, to our heavenly kingdom within for power and answers.  To accomplish this the God-self uses “VISION” to discern truth and then corollary direct awareness into lovingly authentic actions for the higher good for self and all.  The God-self is therefore defined by truth, allowing, and love.

We enter this world, whether we’re aware of it or not with an array of spiritual lessons/wounds that we are here to heal and life missions we are here to manifest.  We are also similarly born with an array of spiritual gifts that we are here to become aware of and benefit from our larger life purpose of becoming more whole, healed and enlightened so that greater love is known and experienced in our world…(READ MORE by in Part II – “Healing to Learn Your Life Mission” thru Buying Me a Coffee on Ko-Fi.com
