COVID-19 is Mutating As It Spreads Across the U.S.

Health Editor’s Note: While viruses are excellent at mutating, the coronavirus seems to be especially good at becoming something different than it was before. One of the mutations may have made the virus more contagious.

The good news, if there can be ‘good’ news where coronavirus is concerned, the study of more than 5,000 genetic sequences of coronavirus show the mutations do not make the virus deadlier or have changed clinical outcomes for the worse…..Carol

  1. Because of the mutating nature of coronavirus, NO vaccine can be made out of it. Yes there are flu vaccines but… they… *GUESS* what the next strain *could* be and make most of the time multi stain vaccines that are, also a guess work. For that, they have to have in hand real viruses stems to work with. Such SARS-CoV 2 isolated/purified virus stems have not been extracted as of today as I know of so… Covid-19 viruses are… a FRAUD !

    • And, Carol, BTW, You emphasizes about the increased contagious nature of the new SARS-CoV 2 virus BUT… you fail to mention that it is LESS pathogenic (lethal) isn’t it ?

    • Stargate, I do not believe that it is less pathogenic. what we are probably seeing is that the initial wave of the pandemic took those who were most vulnerable before we started to physically distance and wear masks. It is also probable that medicine has evolved to deal with COVID-19 in more effective ways….such as looking for increased clotting, increased inflammatory responses, etc. This virus is still killing people every single day.

    • According to Pirbright Institute sources and sources in the U.S. , the extreme virulence of corona-SARS viruses lasts just a very few weeks, but the illness can go on for 2 months or until lights out.

  2. So the chances of a coronavirus vaccine being effective are slim to none and slim just left town. Is that conclusion correct?

    • Rpm1945, The various mutations of the virus will be taken into account. Like influenza, each year that vaccine is tweeked to anticipate the viruses that will be current for that year.
