McConnell: Trump Should Face Criminal Trail, Not Impeachment, for His Crimes

Raw Story: Former President Donald Trump was not convicted (57/43) by ALL members of his own party following his second Senate impeachment trial, but reportedly fears criminal accountability for his role in the insurrection, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported Saturday.

“Kaitlan, I understand you are hearing that despite the acquittal, the former president is still very much worried about his legal future,” CNN’s Wolf Blitzer said.

“He is, Wolf,” Collins replied. “And privately he has expressed concern that he could be charged related to the January 6th rally — or riot I should say. That’s what he told multiple people.”

“That’s in part why he has been so quiet every since he left the White House,” she explained. “We hardly heard from the president, only in written statements, he does not have access to his twitter account and one adviser to the president told me that is directly related to that, is that he is concerned that charges could happen and could be awaiting him.”

“When you saw Mitch McConnell come out to try to explain his acquittal vote and he very strongly implied that the legal system should take care of Donald Trump, saying he was practically and morally responsible for that riot, that really does get at the heart of a big concern for the former president,” Collins continued. “It’s something that Liz Cheney said as well, implying there could be a prosecution in Donald Trump’s future related to what happened on January 6th and the role that he played in it.”

  1. I will surprised if anything ever happens to Trump. He might be suicided if he does something stupid, like out his whole campaign/admin as a Zionist scam to create division, ala Robert Maxwell. He won’t, he’s not that stupid. But he still has his support from those he works for and it’s doubtful they will dump on him as that would cause their power to be questioned. IF he was going to be prosecuted, that would have happened long ago. I regard all of CONgress as co-conspirators and they are not going to set a precedent that could come back and bite them as well. Trumps job is to be an irritant and will likely continue in that role. As the old saying goes, the show must go on.

  2. Fani Willis should be afforded any and all tools to carry out her intention.
She is the right person , in the right position, at the right time.
The proper measure of the check and balance system (in this instance) is the ability for a county DA to jail a former President. Genders and races of either are an added bonus.
It is the diligent with the perfunctory in its crosshairs.
It is the best story and the closest particle to the gravitational orbit of actual justice.
    She was born for it.

  3. I already said, you don’t need be an expert to say he will be acquitted again. The Capitol score reading.. .Trump 2 – Pelosi 0 ….. 🙂

  4. The Senate trial played out as I expected…a pre-staging event to build solid support for a solid, fair, criminal prosecution of Trump. Mc Connell’s jumping in on this theme was a surprise, and he was dissed by the Dems, silly for them as he has greased the skids for a Trump criminal prosecution where McConnell would definitely be a witness. What are the odds of this really happening? Just look at how fast business donators are running from the Trumptard Republicans. It was a 24 hr decision for them…a no brainer, kind of the speed we make calls like this at VT, and why our phone rings 24 hours a day from people around the world asking about fast moving events.

    • Just like other New York mobsters, Trump will most likely skate to Israel to avoid prosecution. His pal Bibi Netanyahu will give him safe haven, maybe up in Trump Heights on the Golan. Then all of his Christian Zionist supporters can visit to pay homage. He’s still their ticket to the Rapture and Tel Megiddo is right down the road where they can all have front-row seats to Armageddon. Trump no doubt will have a cut of the action, maybe selling those seats at a premium. Salvation doesn’t come cheap you know.
