Historians give Trump brutal grades in new survey — Great Read

Raw Story: C-SPAN on Wednesday released its latest rankings of American presidents as determined by dozens of prominent historians — and it revealed some very unwelcome news for former President Donald Trump.

Overall, historians ranked Trump as the fourth-worst president ever, coming in one spot below former President William Henry Harrison, who died after just one month in office.

The only presidents on the list to rank worse than Trump were Franklin Pierce, Andrew Johnson, and James Buchanan.

Johnson was the first American president to be impeached and Trump was the first American president to be impeached twice. Buchanan, meanwhile, is best remembered for lurching America toward a civil war.



Breaking down individual leadership characteristics, the historians ranked Trump dead last in moral authority and was ranked even worse on this score than Richard Nixon, the only American president to resign in the face of impeachment.

Trump also ranked poorly in the category of crisis management, no doubt a reflection of his widely criticized response to the novel coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 600,000 Americans.

  1. As usual Americans can be RELIEVED that ” they got Trump” … just imagine if Hillary had been elected ?

  2. I hate to see the Trump bashing that is going on now. Trump was/is a flawed human like all of us. He’s self indulgent and is apt to do what profits himself and his family at the expense of the country and the American people. But he is not out to prove he is tougher than Putin like HRC vividly projected. In the end she failed with the putch in Ukraine as Putin out maneuvered her by getting back lost Russian base & its strategic assets. And the leader of Ukraine is apt to change again & again in the future. And that coup could have started WWIII. It was reckless. AND a failure.

    • When a person behaves the way he did, and at the same time, brag and brag about how great he is, all the while screwing up everything , he deserves as much as anyone wants to dish out.
      A braggadocious con man gets no quarter as he would give you none. Add the five deferments and the insurrection and they should bang his head on the cop car (like he suggested ) as they cart him off. There are tons of people that could be outsider candidates, Trump is a horrible choice and reflects on the intelligence of the voters that supported him. And btw, he may have ordered the virus released just so he could make himself look better for “besting China”. Like his Sec of State said, ‘He’s a F ing moron”.

    • It is understandable, though. People also have fan clubs for Casey Anthony, Jody Arias, Arthur Shawcross, and all kinds of killers behind bars.
      Pick leaders that are public servants, and who have little to no business interests.

  3. Contemporary historians of someone individual in question along history they are always influenced by their own political opinions… Look at it this way, that Emperor Nero was playing the harp while Rome was burning was a lie… 🙂

  4. It would be an interesting poll to see how many formally die-hard Trump supporters now realize just how badly they got conned.
    And will admit it!

    • The majority of ReTrumplicans are still out there in la-la land when it comes to their Dear Leader. Remember, so-called Christian Zionists still believe that he will be reinstated by August. The MyPillow dude is planning a big celebration. Being as how they’ve totally given up on democracy, they must be looking to some extralegal way for Trump to become president again, like maybe a military coup. The dominionists in our military and the chosenites are all for it. They want to turn the USA into a Ziofascist theocracy. Gordon has written extensively about this. Hopefully saner heads in the US military will prevail.
