“The tip of this mob’s spear”: Prosecutors begin first Jan. 6 trial
[ Editor’s Note: It looks like the DoJ cherrypicked this case, as it is key to getting an initial conviction to ‘put the fear’ into the rest of the Trump Insurrection gang.
Mr. Reffitt is finally going to get his day in court, and America will be there, where he will get an education about what some think about his political ideas.
This guy has already convicted himself on audio, so he will be playing the Trump hero going down for the cause. I suspect the DoJ picked someone that would draw a serious sedition sentence, as he is unrepentant and threatened others.
A 20 year sedition sentence on this guy might trigger a number of cooperation pleas from the others waiting in line which would speed up the process.
I suspect if a string of convictions can be racked up, a lot of those arrested will come to Jesus and claim they never would have done it without Trump inciting them on, so Donald can experience that adulation.
Even if Reffitt really gets nailed to the cross, it has taken a lot out of the country, a high price for us to pay to have Trump known as the most disgraced president in American history… Jim W. Dean ]

When Guy Reffitt, a Texas militia member charged with storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, advanced on Congress, prosecutors say he did it with specific targets in mind: Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
A Justice Department lawyer laid out the case against Reffitt in opening remarks Wednesday at Reffitt’s criminal trial, the first to emerge from the Jan. 6 attack — with the government describing the mob assault on Congress in stark, foreboding terms.
“The heart of democracy was attacked by a mob in what was the worst assault on the Capitol since the War of 1812,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Nestler told jurors. “The defendant was the tip of this mob’s spear.”
…Nestler drew on the jarring images of Reffitt standing amid the mob approaching the doors of the Capitol before confronting police.
Reffitt is charged with attempting to obstruct Congress’ effort to certify the 2020 election, carrying a firearm on Capitol grounds, illegally transporting a firearm and interfering with law enforcement officers.
…“We’re taking the Capitol before the day is over, ripping them out by their hair—every fucking one of them,” Reffitt said.
“I just want to see Pelosi’s head hitting every fucking stair on the way out — and Mitch McConnell, too,” Reffitt added.
