Jan. 6 committee warns Trump DOJ official he must cooperate with investigation or it will move aggressively against him
…from the Washington Post
[ Editor’s Note: Jeffrey Clark is shooting the moon by refusing to answer questions, but showing up to do it. There was no word from the Committee that it was going to refer him to the DoJ for contempt.
They should have these criminal referral motions ready to go at this point since they are fill in the blank forms. The Committee has to show that it is going to intensify the speed of getting these referrals going to pressure witnesses into giving testimony to keep their own legal bills lower.
I doubt Mr. Clark has the means to pay for the huge impending legal bills without Trumper support to keep him on the Trump team. That said, sufficient evidence already exists to cook his goose for having been onboard throwing the election over.
Clark could be getting on the ‘delay, delay’ train, hoping the Dems lose next November and the Repubs will kill the Committee. With the delays we are seeing in the DoJ with Garland, that would leave all January 6 prosecution power within his organization, with what are typically multi year criminal investigations.
The DoJ and FBI never seem to have the manpower to deal with the growing case workload and old cases that go on endlessly… Jim W. Dean ]

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol warned former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark that it will take more aggressive steps to compel his testimony after he refused to answer questions Friday during a closed-door interview with the panel.
In a statement released after Clark’s appearance, Chairman Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.) said Clark has “a very short time to reconsider and cooperate fully” before the committee moves to “take strong measures to hold him accountable to meet his obligation.”
On Friday, Clark declined to answer questions about Trump’s “attempt to use the Department of Justice to overturn the election,” said Thompson, who called his decision “a direct contrast to his supervisors at the Department, who have come in and answered the committee’s questions on these important topics.”
“It’s astounding that someone who so recently held a position of public trust to uphold the Constitution would now hide behind vague claims of privilege by a former president, refuse to answer questions about an attack on our democracy, and continue an assault on the rule of law,” Thompson wrote in his statement, rejecting Clark’s claim of privilege.

What’s astounding, is that anyone would take this whole “pretend to be a legitimate representative republic formalism freak show” as real government.
All politicians are whores. No exceptions. Sooner or later they show the cards they are holding. It is the nature of the game.
