Health Editor’s Note: Georgia’s governor does not think masks are a necessary part of containing coronavirus. 34 states have a mask mandate. Georgia has reopened schools and just as quickly has had to close them due to increases in COVID-19 cases. Georgia’s governor, Brian Kemp has long stated his objection to a mask mandate and has resisted placing limitations on businesses, restaurants, and gatherings. Now the federal report recommends a statewide mask mandate in counties that have more than 50 active coronavirus cases. When most of your state’s counties meet this requirement, why not make masks mandatory for the entire state? Testing has also been lagging in Georgia. This is clearly a case when being first is not the best place to be…..Carol
