Therapist, head of the department of the National Medical Research Center of Otorhinolaryngology of the FMBA of Russia, Alexander Melnikov, has listed medications, the use of which in the treatment of coronavirus infection at home can be dangerous.

First of all, the doctor warned about the possible dangers of using antiviral drugs for COVID-19. According to the expert, there are no drugs in this group that are suitable for treatment at the outpatient stage. At best, according to Melnikov, such a drug will not help at all, and at worst it will cause significant harm to the body.

The doctor also recommended that antibiotics be abandoned when treating at home – these drugs have no effect on coronavirus.

“Antibiotics cannot be prescribed for outpatient covid. Antibiotics have no effect on the coronavirus and they cannot bring any benefit, except harm, ”the doctor wrote on Facebook.

The doctor also drew attention to corticosteroids, which, despite being effective against coronavirus, have a large number of dangerous side effects.

“There are cases when hospitalization of a seriously ill patient with progressive respiratory failure is impossible for one reason or another; in such situations, the administration of corticosteroids can save the patient. But it may not save – you need to warn the sick and their relatives that you can go to the cemetery, bypassing the hospital, “- said Melnikov.

Earlier, the chief infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health, Vladimir Chulanov, said that any organ can be affected with coronavirus . According to the doctor, the virus receptor is present in different tissues, in the vascular endothelium, and there are vessels in all organs of the human body.
